# Spott mobile app

> The Spott app for iOS and Android: search your database, capture notes, and record in-person meetings on the go.

The **Spott mobile app** puts search, notes, and in-person meeting recording in your
pocket. It is a focused companion to the desktop platform, not a full mobile version of
it, built for the few things you actually need on the go.

## What you can do

* **Search everything, instantly.** Find candidates, contacts, jobs, and notes in
  seconds, wherever you are.
* **Capture notes on the go.** Create and edit notes in real time so you and your team
  stay aligned.
* **Record in-person meetings.** Meeting someone face to face? Record the conversation
  in the app. It runs through the same pipeline as the desktop
  [Note Taker](/docs/notes/note-taker): Spott transcribes it, summarizes it, and creates
  a note.

## Tag in-person recordings yourself

<Warning>
  In-person recordings have no automatic way to know who you met. Unlike the online Note
  Taker (which identifies attendees by email) or recorded calls (which match by phone
  number), **you have to manually tag the relevant candidates or contacts** on the
  resulting note. Skip this and the note stays in your workspace but never appears on
  anyone's profile.
</Warning>

## What the app is not

The mobile app is **not a phone-call recorder**. It cannot:

* Record an actual phone call.
* Tap into WhatsApp, FaceTime, or any other voice line.
* Merge with or listen in on your device's phone calls.

This is a hard technical limit: voice lines on a phone run as separate processes, and one
app cannot listen to another. For actual call recording, use Spott's
[telephony integrations](/docs/integrations/overview) and
[phone calls in Spott](/docs/calls/phone-calls).

## When to use it

* Reading a candidate's profile, notes, or contact details while traveling.
* Recording an in-person intake, client visit, or coffee meeting so the transcript lands
  in Spott instead of getting lost.
