# VIES

> Validate EU VAT numbers against the European Commission's VIES service when creating companies in Spott.

## Overview

VIES is the European Commission's VAT Information Exchange System. Enabling it in Spott lets you validate EU VAT numbers against the official service.

## Enable VIES for your workspace

Go to **Settings → Integrations → VIES** and turn on **Enable VIES**. This allows VAT numbers to be validated with VIES when creating companies.
