# Fill a role, end to end

> The complete Spott workflow: from creating a job to placing a candidate, with links to every step.

This is the spine of Spott: how a role goes from intake to placement, and which page
covers each step.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the job">
    [Add the job](/docs/jobs/adding-a-job) and link it to the client company. Fill
    the **Overview** tab with sourcing criteria, attach the client's job
    description, and link your intake call notes. This context powers everything
    that follows.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Source candidates">
    Work three channels in parallel:

    * **[Matching](/docs/jobs/matching)**: AI ranks
      your whole database against the role.
    * **[Search](/docs/candidates/search-candidates)**: find candidates
      with filters, Boolean queries, and AI search, then add them to the job.
    * **[Advertising](/docs/jobs/job-portal)**: publish
      the vacancy to your job board, LinkedIn, or
      [multiposters](/docs/integrations/multiposting), and review applicants on the
      [Inbound tab](/docs/jobs/inbound-applications).

    New people enter the database via [CV upload, email forwarding, or the
    extension](/docs/candidates/adding-candidates), deduplicated automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Qualify and move through the pipeline">
    Track everyone on the
    [Candidates tab](/docs/jobs/job-pipeline) of the job.
    Log conversations with [notes](/docs/notes/adding-notes), let the
    [Note Taker](/docs/notes/note-taker) capture your meetings, and
    [reach out at scale with campaigns](/docs/outreach/campaigns). Each
    [application](/docs/jobs/applications) carries its scorecards and
    interviews.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Present to the client">
    Present candidates directly from the pipeline, or publish a shortlist to the
    [Company Portal](/docs/jobs/company-portal) where the
    client reviews candidates and gives feedback in real time. Schedule interviews
    with the [calendar](/docs/calendar/schedule-a-meeting) or
    your [booking links](/docs/calendar/scheduler).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place the candidate">
    Mark the winning candidate as placed and record the
    [placement](/docs/placements/placements): fees, dates, and your custom placement
    form. Placements feed your revenue reporting automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Learn and report">
    Follow your numbers on the [Dashboard](/docs/get-started/dashboard) and in
    [Reports](/docs/outreach/reports): pipeline funnels, time in stage, fees, and
    activity.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Much of this can run itself: [automations](/docs/settings/automations) open the
  placement dialog when you move someone to Placed, send consent emails on stage
  changes, or close the job when the role is filled.
</Tip>

Working deals before there is a role? Start on the CRM side with
[opportunities](/docs/opportunities/opportunities) and convert to a job when the deal
closes.
