# Data migration

> How Spott migrates your data from your previous system, with a validation step before go-live.

When you move to Spott from another CRM or ATS, our team runs the migration for you.

## Validation environment first

Your data is first migrated into a separate **validation environment**. You review it
there, together with our team, to confirm everything came across correctly, for example
candidates, contacts, jobs, notes, and placements, before it reaches your live
workspace. Only once you are happy with the result do we complete the migration to
production.

This means you get to check and sign off on the imported data before your team starts
working in it.
